Eaton Detroit Truetrac Differentials
Eaton Detroit Truetrac differentials use a patented design of parallel-axis planetary helix gears to provide a quiet, automatic splitting of torque. They perform like a limited-slip differential under normal driving conditions, automatically transferring torque to the wheel with better traction when ground conditions warrant. These replacement units are available for dozens of axle applications.

I purchased a bearing/shim kit from summit with this diff when I bought it. If you are not sure what to order call their tech line, they're great.

Q:
Can I use axles with c-clips or do i need a c-clip eliminator kit to use this carrier
Asked by JOHN on 5/19/2020
Submit an Answer
Yes you can. It has a removable pin to hold axles and c clips in place. Do make sure you have correct ring and pinion gears. It says that it is for 3:73 and up but I ended up ordering new 3:73 ring and pinion because wrong series. Check this out.

I think the truck 12 bolt and car 12 bolt may have a different ring gear diameter size. The part detail says 12 bolt for truck applications. Don't quote me on that so you may wanna check Detroit Trutrac website.

I'm pretty sure it's for a truck 12 bolt carrier. The Eaton website is pretty helpful in telling which part number you need if you're sure which axle housing you have.

From the search options on the Summit site, I think there is only one series for Trucks (3.73 and above). For passenger cars there 3-series and 4-series. Is it possible your rear-end was changed out?

was doin a gear swap from 2:56 to 3:73 in my '63 c10, (12 bolt truck rear end) and needed a ring gear spacer for the different series carrier so instead I bought the true trac 4 series, slapped in the 3:73's and now its a burnout machine!!

I've installed a few different carriers. The Eaton Truetrac is by far the best one. No friction additives to worry about. It just works. It's smooth. Highly recommended.

Have purchased several of the TrueTrac units for customer and my personal vehicles. Excellent for street and offroad use. Gear set up is always spot on or very minimal adjusting required with these carriers. Quiet, reliable, and predictable operation.
