“We have got to the desperate stage now”: Elderly couple faces homelessness after government rejects request
Two pensioners are lining homelessness after the Victorian government refused to allow them entry from Sunrise South Wales.
Bev and Peter Fullerton sold their Lake Macquarie home new to be closer to family in Melbourne, as the span are both suffering with poor health.
St. Peter, 85, has prostate cancer that has spread to his clappers, while Bev, 75, is suffering her personal issues.
The couple bought an apartment in a Melbourne retirement village, and were attributable move this week – as Peter is booked in to have chemotherapy in Melbourne – Bev told 2GB radio host, Ben Fordham.
The couple have embattled carefully.
They are both fully vaccinated, and received unfavorable results only yesterday to COVID-19 tests.
Their piece of furniture has been taken south to their new home already.
But the Victorian regime has rejected the couplet's request to travel – no reasons given.
"We're sitting here on a few chairs and eating off our laps," Bev told Fordham.
The new owners of the Fullerton's Lake Macquarie home have benevolent allowed the couple to stay in the property for an unneeded two weeks, but they will be necessary to pay out rent.
They are "a pin-up young couple," Bev told Fordham, merely "they demand to move in because they are now paying a mortgage".
Peter's cancer is in his pelvis and spine, and he is "non in the least well," Bev said.
"He's in a lot of painfulness."
But he can't get down chemotherapy in Lake Macquarie because it would make him so unwell atomic number 2 would be unable to travel to Melbourne, she said.
"I'm very stressed and disconnected A to where to go from here," Bev common. "We hold to the critical stage now."
Without the financial means to stay in a hotel or motel, Bev is haunted the yoke could wind up unfortunate.
