"Swear It Again" is a vocal by Irish boy band Westlife. Information technology was released on nineteen April 1999 in the United Kingdom and on 25 February 2000 in the The states every bit the first and only single from their self-titled debut album Westlife (1999). The song peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, giving Westlife their start of xiv United kingdom number-one singles. "Swear It Once more" is Westlife's just unmarried to take charted in the US, peaking at number xx on the Billboard Hot 100 and ranking number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 year-end nautical chart in 2000.
The single has sold over 400,000 copies in the UK and has achieved gold status there. It is the band's fifth-best-selling single in combined sales and 7th-acknowledged single in paid-for sales in the UK as of January 2019.[2]

In Westlife - Our Story the ring recalled being "excited" hearing the demo of this song saying "Wow, this is a keen vocal. It's a large chorus, groovy harmonies. This is exactly what we want to be recording".[3]
"Swear It Again" is notable for being, along with "Flight Without Wings", ane of the offset two songs that Steve Mac wrote for both Westlife and Simon Cowell. The success of the two tracks led to Mac becoming Cowell'south outset choice producer and songwriter.[four] It was revealed that Cowell let his tardily father Eric Cowell listened to all of the songs recorded by the band at that fourth dimension and determine what will be the debut unmarried and "Swear Information technology Again" was his choice. Significantly, his male parent died during the premiere week of the release of the single.

The original version of the video was not released. Simon Cowell had spent £150,000 on it, didn't like it and ordered a re-shoot.[3]
The remade British music video features the band members in a mini theatre and singing on a stage fitted with lighting panel floor while they face a screen with black-and-white videos of their studio recording process. This version was directed past Wayne Isham and aired in May 1999. The video was shot at Pinewood Studios in March 1999.[7] The video on YouTube has 64 meg views every bit of May 2021.[viii]
